The main activity is the production of honey which in Malta is divided into 6 seasons, namely carob, orange blossom, borage, white thistle, clover and wild thyme. This activity has started over 60 years ago and the average annual production of honey reaches 3 tons.
The honey produced is used mainly on apitherapy.
Mr. Arnold Grech has conducted a study on the Maltese bee.
